Want to spend an afternoon making something colorful and a little unexpected? Pull up for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn, make, and have an easy reason to meet people who are into arts, crafts, and culture too.
Denver Outings is hosting a Catrinas en Mi Ciudad | Barriletes (Kites) Workshop on Voro. You’ll learn how to make your own barrilete, a handcrafted Guatemalan kite, with artist Mynor Ovidio Xicon Simon.
Make a Kite, Make an Afternoon of It
Barriletes are colorful kites connected to Day of the Dead traditions. They’re also seen as a bridge of communication between the living and deceased loved ones, giving the craft a story that goes well beyond paper, sticks, and string.
Come for the creative project, stay for the chance to learn something new with your people. After the workshop, you can walk around the area and decide whether the afternoon calls for food, drinks, or a little more wandering.
